SIS Primary
At SIS the Primary phase is divided into Lower Primary (Grade 1 & 2) and the Upper Primary (Grade 3 to Grade 5). A team of dedicated and highly trained teachers, small class sizes with two adults in every classroom, engaging curriculum and data-driven instruction in our Primary phase maximize each child’s potential to learn. Vibrant classroom spaces with learning centers with a culture of challenging every child to their optimum potential, Homeroom teachers, subject specialist, and Inclusion team specialists all are attuned to the individual child’s academic and social-emotional needs.
In grades 1 and 2 students are exposed to learning through wonderment. Young students intrinsically are curious and motivated to learn. With the pedagogy of ‘learning by doing’ at SIS in lower Primary and tapping upon their nature of wonderment about the world, the teachers facilitate students in co-constructing knowledge about the world and applying it too.
In upper Primary the students develop the foundational knowledge, learning skills, and personality traits through a very strong interdisciplinary curriculum allowing them to continue their exploration by becoming problem solvers and critical thinkers. As students grow academically, they are challenged to reach higher levels of intellectual achievement with our curriculum enrichment programs such as STREAM, Drone making, Kaleidoscope, and Making Learning visible, these also prepare students for the next phase of their schooling. The curriculum in Primary includes English as a first language, Arabic as a second language, and choices for the third language between French/Hindi/ Malayalam/Tamil; UAE Social studies, Moral education, Islamic studies, Living Arabic, ICT, Visual arts, performing art such as ballet, gymnastics, dramatics, Music; Physical education that include yoga, basketball, football, cricket, chess, swimming and so on.
